As Director of Operations and a founding member of the Rappahannock Restaurant Group, Jess Opperman has helped grow the company from a single riverfront tasting room into a collection of acclaimed oyster bars and restaurants in Virginia, Washington D.C., Charleston, and Los Angeles.

With more than 15 years in hospitality, Jess oversees all RRG locations, guiding teams with a focus on operational excellence, culture, and guest experience. Her leadership has driven stronger financial performance, reduced turnover, and fostered a people-first workplace rooted in purpose and pride.

Before joining Rappahannock in 2018, Jess worked her way from bartender to general manager in restaurants across California, Texas, and North Carolina—a journey that shapes her grounded, empathetic approach to management. Based in Richmond, she splits her time between the restaurants and the oyster farm in Topping, ensuring the company’s farm-to-table mission stays alive at every level.
