Dover Georgia is one of the smallest Dovers in the world and is located in the Deep South State of Georgia. This charming village, without even a post office has a population of fewer than 200 people. Some suggest it was named after Thomas Dover who received an early grant of land. Dover stands not far from the lovely and historic Ogeechee River which runs halfway across the state into the broad Atlantic Ocean. Dover was an important river transport post and was busy with the shipping of cotton, and water melons but today it has lapsed into a sleepy—but quiet delightful—American village bathed in southern sunshine and cooled by an Atlantic breeze.
